This
first installment takes you to the meditteranean island of Malta. Malta's shores
are littered with an abundance of superb wreck sites, many of the vessels and
aircraft featured are in their final resting positions as a result of wartime
conflict and are now being inhabited by a diversity of marine life.
Set to a mind-blowing chill out soundtrack and capturing many amazing images
from 8 totally unique locations around the historical island of Malta.
Um El Faroud
- Libyan Oil Tanker
This
109m long Libyan Oil Tanker suffered an explosion during maintenance whilst in
Dock. The explosion ended the lives of nine people. The ship was scuttled
in September 1998 next to the Blue Grotto, Zurrieq. Lying at a maximum depth of
36m
HMS
Hellespont
- WWII Paddle Wheel Tug
A
paddle wheeled WWII Deep Sea Rescue Tug. She was based in Malta from 1922 and
sunk by German aircraft on 7th April 1942. Later she was relocated and scuttled
3 miles outside Ricasoli Breakwater Lighthouse, lying at a depth of 45m.

Bomber
- Mid Range WWII Bomber
A
WWII mid range Bomber, the plane went down after a failed emergency landing
attempt in December 1942 with only 100 flying hours logged, the crew survived
the crash. The Bomber now lies at a maximum depth of 42m, 800m south of
Marsacala.
Imperial
Eagle - 50's
Passenger Ship
Originally
named ‘Crested Eagle’, then renamed Imperial Eagle, she was a passenger
ferry modified to also carry cars. She was scuttled on 19 July 1999 off Qawra
Point, she sits at a maximum depth of 42m. 100 yards off the bow stands a 25ft
statue of Christ placed in the water to commemorate the Popes visit to Malta in
1981 and to protect passing ships.

St Angelo
- WWII Minesweeper
Originally named HMS Egmont, this WWII
Minesweeper went down in June 1942. She lies at a maximum depth of 55m directly
outside Grand Harbour. The Ship was one of four minesweepers sunk in the area
during May/June 1942.

Fighter Plane
A
20mm Hispano Cannons Wing Rocket Twin Engine lying upside down in 38m of water
outside Portomasso, St. Julian’s. This WWII Fighter was originally discovered
but kept secret for many years, and only recently become more widely known to
the local dive population.

Rozi - Industrial
Harbour Vessel
A
modern day style of Tugboat this popular wreck was originally sank as an
attraction for a tourist submarine which used to operate at Cirkewwa. The Rozi
attracts plentiful life at her maximum depth of 36m
HMS
Stubborn - WWII
Submarine
Built
on 10th September 1942 this historic WWII wreck stretches 66m in length. This
Submarine saw plenty of after battle action and set a deepest dive record, after
losing control her 44 man crew managed to refloat her. She was scuttled on 30th
April 1946 as a sonar training target and lies at a maximum depth of 58m
